Dogs Trust and Marmax Products collaborate to give dogs the best life while waiting for their forever home.

We all know Dogs Trust’s slogan, ‘A dog is for life, not just for Christmas.’ But do you know just how much rehoming centres do to take care for the thousands of dogs who are waiting for their forever homes?

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest welfare charity who rehome dogs throughout the UK and Ireland. To date, Dogs Trust care for over 15,000 dogs each year through their 20 rehoming centres. The dogs they care for come in all shapes and sizes; from the smallest Chihuahua to the giant Great Dane. Dogs Trust never put a healthy dog down and ensure they have the happiest life whilst in their care. Dogs Trust currently have over 1 million Facebook likes and a supporter base of over 750,000.

Marmax Products and Dogs Trust have been working together for a number of years to create dog agility equipment for the centres to provide enrichment for the dogs and to give them a happy and healthy stay. It also provides the dogs with basic training for when they are ready to go to their forever home. All of the agility equipment was suggested by Dogs Trust and then manufactured by Marmax using their HDPE recycled plastic. The recycled plastic was a better solution for the centres as it will not, corrode or splinter which, in turn, will not harm the dog’s paws.

By purchasing Marmax dog agility equipment, Dogs Trust have saved, to date, 1,763,546 milk containers from landfill and our oceans; so not only are they providing the best care for the dogs, they are also helping to save the environment!

Marmax Products have manufactured lots of different agility equipment for Dogs Trust; from training cubes, agility A frames and seesaws, to adventure areas, training platforms and dog paddling pools. The dogs love the equipment and have hours of fun playing.

Dogs Trust have recently opened their doors and created Dog Schools throughout the UK to help first-time owners and dog lovers to train their dogs. With their expert advice, the dog schools are proving to be a huge success, learning that it is the relationship between dog and owner that is key to building a lasting bond. Dogs Trust are hoping that by educating dog owners earlier, it will address the issue of behavioural problems and give dogs and their owners the foundations for a happy life together. Marmax Products are now working on manufacturing smaller agility equipment so that dog owners can use this and continue their training at home.

Marmax Products are also proud sponsors of the Dogs Trust rehoming centre staff conference which takes place twice a year. Marmax get to see first-hand, the amazing employees who care for the 15,000 dogs on a daily basis, and hear how the products are helping the dogs to achieve their ultimate goal – their forever home.

Marmax Products also donate 5% back for every sale of dog agility equipment that is ordered through Dogs Trust.

In June 2018, we met a remarkable milestone by saving over 1/4 billion milk containers from landfill and our oceans. While our figure continues to rise, we are wanting to know how you will help save the planet in your own way. Whether you are a large company signing up to a plastics pact, or an individual who will pledge to recycle that extra plastic milk bottle each week, there are an array of things that we can do to help save the planet that little bit more.

More and more companies and individuals are trying their best to make a difference to the environment by manufacturing more products from either plastic waste from the ocean or by using recycled materials. We now have everything from football shirts, clothing, shoes and water bottles to entrepreneurs producing products, like The Ocean Cleanup, that will help clear the ocean of plastic waste.

All of these products are fantastic ways in preventing the plastic waste from entering our oceans. We all know that this is not going to be a quick fix, but if everyone can pledge to recycle that little bit more, this may help save the planet for future generations.
