Mary Knight, receptionist at the hospital said, “The service and customer care we have received from Marmax Recycled Products has been absolutely exceptional. Tania and Darren at Marmax guided us through every step and the bench that we have received is perfect.”

National Storytelling Week 26th January – 2nd February

460 300 Marmax Recycled Plastic Products

National Storytelling Week is in full flow and what better way to get the children using their imaginations by writing their own stories, reading more books or even sharing stories with their friends.

The week will be celebrated by all ages and walks of life, from reading a story to your baby to listening to your grandparents telling stories from their childhood; reading to your peers at school to listening to your teacher telling stories. There is so much that can be learnt from storytelling.

Storytelling can make both the reader and listener think about the story, adapt on it and even be encouraged to write, or even act out, their own story based on what they have read or heard. This will encourage people to use their imagination and also work together with other people to recreate a story that has been told.

Here at Marmax Products, we encourage National Storytelling Week, not only to get more people reading, but by taking storytime outdoors with our maintenance free, recycled plastic outdoor products; ideal for getting everyone together to listen to their favourite stories.

Our recycled plastic Buddy Bench and recycled plastic Teacher’s Chair are a great combination of an ‘outdoor classroom.’ The curved seat of the buddy bench means that no one is isolated from the story and everyone can interact with each other. The Teacher’s Chair can be placed at the front of the Buddy Benches so everyone can see and here the story.

Another outdoor product is our recycled plastic adventure cabin. This ‘playhouse’ is ideal for smaller groups of children, either to read stories to each other, tell each other stories or even to get together to get their ideas flowing to re-enact their favourite story for their peers.

Goodbye to single use plastics, Marmax products are here to stay

County Durham based company, Marmax Recycled Products, manufactures outdoor products made from 100% recycled plastic; the material commonly used to make milk containers. They manufacture everything from picnic benches and seating, to play equipment, fencing and boardwalk, and even dog agility equipment. They cater for all ages and their award-winning Special Education Needs range ensures everyone from all walks of life can enjoy their products.

Because all their products are made from 100% recycled plastic, they are helping to save the planet by preventing this type of plastic from going to landfill or ending up in our oceans, a topic which is high on the agenda for everyone. So far, Marmax Recycled Products have saved approximately a quarter of a billion milk containers from landfill and our oceans. They have also won numerous awards, including the prestigious Green World Award for their commitment to environmental best practice as well as being Green World Ambassadors for five consecutive years.

Millions of people have seen the Blue Planet II series and also watched on the news the devastating effects that plastic waste is having on our planet. Every minute of every day, at least one truck load of plastic waste is dumped in our oceans.

Our oceans and the sea life in it are a vital source to everyday life. 70% of the oxygen we breathe is produced by plants that live in the seas. The oceans are fundamentally tied to our health and livelihoods….but plastic waste has our oceans on the brink of disaster.

Unfortunately, the most dangerous plastic is the microbes; plastic which has broken down into tiny particles. This type of plastic is being eaten by fish and other forms of sea life and is sadly ending up on our plates.

Devastating images are posted across the web every day of fish swimming through plastic in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a huge patch of plastic waste which stretches from Japan to Hawaii. We have seen seahorses clinging onto plastic cotton buds, turtles being stuck in plastic can rings and most recently, a whale that was found to have approximately 29kg of plastic in its stomach.

However, this can be salvaged if people know how to recycle their waste properly and make recycling at home, and in the office, a priority. To help minimise the damage plastic plays on the environment, it’s necessary to address all aspects of plastic production. There are three components of the recycling loop. These are:

  • The collection and processing of the recycled plastic waste
  • Using this plastic to manufacture a new product
  • The end user buying the recycled plastic product

As there is an increasing pressure on businesses and businesses and individuals to only use resources that can be recycled, many companies in the food and drink industry are now banning single use plastics. Some of the most common single use plastics are drinking straws, cutlery and stirrers. In a recent news article, Sky announced they are teaming up with the Premier League to ban these from football stadiums. The banning of single use plastics in popular and high-traffic places like football stadiums and event venues should prevent thousands, if not millions, of plastic items being manufactured, used once and sent to landfill.

Marmax Recycled Products want to make sure they’re playing their part, helping to close the recycling loop and make waste a resource and not a problem. To do this, the award-winning company manufactures maintenance free, highly durable recycled plastic outdoor products that will last for a minimum of 25 years. And that’s not all, once the product has come to the end of its life, it can be put back into the recycling process and become brand new products for generations to come.
